Perdix Software
A team of manufacturing engineers who write software for the people who make the things that matter. We built MOLI to uncomplicate manufacturing — while at the same time interconnecting systems and making them more productive as a result.
What we do
Perdix Software, Inc. builds and supports MOLI from Rochester, NY, where it was founded in 2015 by Steven L Smith and Jake Weidert. Each MOLI deployment follows a mutually-written Statement of Work along a pre-defined Implementation Plan that configures it uniquely for the needs of each customer while ensuring maintainability and control.
MOLI is used by operations ranging from a three-person shop to multinationals with more than a hundred factories, with particular depth in medical devices, injection molding, machining, and operations that answer to ISO, FDA, or other regulators or audited standards.
Two of the team previously worked on security engineering on the Mykonos team at Juniper Networks (now a part of HPE). That heritage shows in how MOLI is built: a dedicated server per customer, a software bill of materials you can read, and a responsible disclosure program that provides a framework for qualified independent security research.

Why the name?
In Greek mythology, Perdix was the nephew of Daedalus and a student of the mechanical arts. Walking on the beach, he studied the spine of a fish, notched a strip of iron along one edge, and had the saw. Putting two and two together, he had the scissors, and later the drafting compass. Practical invention applied; something obvious, but not to the fish…
It is pronounced PUR-diks, and it rhymes with purr mix. It is not Predix, the GE Digital industrial platform, and it is not the Perdix dive computer from Shearwater Research; search engines confuse all three.
Nous ne sommes pas “perdus”!

Why Rochester?
Rochester has made precise things for a long time: optics, imaging, instruments, and the tooling behind them. The engineers who know how a part is really made are here, and so are the manufacturers who hold the certifications. We work out of NextCorps, the technology incubator downtown, and we are members of LifeSciencesNY.
It is also a city where two cheeseburgers resting on macaroni salad and homefries, covered in mustard, onions, and hot sauce — at 2 in the morning — is a completely reasonable decision. We can't argue with that.
